AN ODE TO
THE AGORAPHOBE

[summary]
During a time when we were all forced to isolate, I wanted to take a look at those who have been in isolation long before Covid-19. Agoraphobes experience social anxiety connected to leaving their homes, large open areas or particular places that cause them to potentially remain stuck inside for long periods of time.  I created a playlist of songs suggested by those of us currently isolating that hopefully can help bring us together through music.

However my main focus was how it’s still possible to explore without leaving the house. I wanted to see how those forced to stay inside either by the government or by their own mental illness could travel in ways they would otherwise be unable to. This is the purpose of ‘An Agoraphobic Travel Guide’ where I have collected data from various websites in an attempt to showcase at least part of the culture of five different cities exclusively using information gathered from the internet. Due to my lack of experience in any of the locations as well as our current inability to travel, I can’t be sure of how accurate a picture they paint but I’d like to think that would encourage a reader to do their own research or provide a critique if they know any of the areas.
